Turning Christine Parsons’ garden design for the walled garden at Ashgate Hospice into a reality has been completed and officially opened. Working through the winter and spring months to deliver a garden in full bloom for the summer opening has at times been tough but a pleasure.
The redesigned walled garden at the hospice allows patients, visitors and staff easier access to enjoy the gardens by featuring a wheelchair accessible block paved path, designed in a figure-of-eight around the central grass area which offers shorter walks too.
The beautiful gardens offer quiet, secluded sitting areas around the site, often surrounded with tall perennials and grasses that provide privacy. A small woodland area is complimented with swathes of Thalictrum, Geraniums and Anemones creating a peaceful retreat for wildlife and more relaxed seating areas.
